There is not a newborn that I have the privilege of snuggling that doesn’t pull at my heart strings just a little. They remind me of my own boys and how they’ve grown faster than I’d planned. Just a few years ago, I held my own 8lb. 12.5oz. bundle of joy. He’s now in Kindergarten, has just lost his first two teeth, and can read. My how the time does fly. The other is now heavier than I can carry for a quick errand into a store. He’s now holding my finger and walking swiftly beside me.

I think every parent who’s baby has grown beyond the size that fits neatly in their cradling arms would tell those new parents how those first few weeks are so precious. They are only that tiny once. They are only that innocent for short while. While they are just beginning to wrap their little hand around your finger, they wrap their whole self around your heart, nuzzle into your chest, and sleep soundly with a peace only a newborn baby can have. Those are precious moments in a few precious days.

This lovely little lady was our last newborn from 2011. She was perfect. We’ve seen many new little ones in 2012 already and we look forward to all those we’ll see this year. We have a lot of fun designing our newborn sessions and challenging ourselves to come up with something new every time.
