Hope. | Newborn Photography in Fayetteville, Wilmington, Whiteville, and Elizabethtown, NC
Posted on May 14, 2012
A baby represents the purest form of hope a human can have. We hope for lots of things in our own lives, but in a new baby, there lives a whole other being that lives and breaths hope. A mother and father look at their new baby and see hope for their own future together, hope for their child’s future, and hope for all their best efforts to succeed in making the world a better place for that new life. A newborn baby represents a chance for life to start over, and a chance for love to grow in whole new direction. Love always fosters hope in our lives.
Imagine your new little baby being born far too early. You would find an amazing amount of hope for him to survive. This little guy arrived with a birth weight of 2 lbs 15oz. He was about double his birth weight by the time he arrived for our newborn session, but still on the tiny side. I hope, just like his mom and dad, to see him chubby and fat by the time he’s sitting up for his 6 month old session. He’s a miracle baby for sure. And he carries all the hope in the world in his smile.
His dad is a football coach. One day the ball he curls around in this image will fit snugly in his hand.
He slept like a champion for his newborn session. A perfect baby. I hope he’s soon loud and noisy and rambunctious like all little boys should be.

Certified Professional Photographer at Vanessa G. Photography serving Fayetteville to Wilmington, NC
Posted on May 9, 2012
Many professions have a certification process to identify those with the qualifications to perform their job at a professional level. In the photography industry, we have a certification process as well. It’s not a requirement for photographers, but it is a designation you can use to find a highly skilled professional. Very few attempt to earn their certification because of the rigorous requirements involved. The Professional Photographic Certification Commission currently recognizes less than 2,000 Certified Professional Photographers (CPP).
One of my personal goals for 2012 was to earn my Certified Professional Photographer designation. Since anyone with a camera can claim they are a professional photographer, I really wanted to set the bar higher for myself. Being a professional photographer should mean more than just having a business name and a website. When one chooses a professional in any industry they should expect a higher quality experience and service from a trained, knowledgeable individual. I sought certification as part of my commitment to my craft and my desire to be able to offer my best to those that trust me to document the most important milestones of their lives. My studio strives to exceed our client’s expectations and seeking certification was just one more way to demonstrate my level of skill, and ultimately, my commitment to our clients.
Earning your CPP involves completing testing to measure your artistic and technical competence. Applicants must complete a two hour written examination composed of questions from a bank of 6,000 about necessary photographic skills. The second phase of the assessment of your skills requires you to submit a recent portfolio of images, meeting very specific lighting and posing requirements, for evaluation by the commission. The image review segment is the most intimidating because you must prove that you can apply your knowledge of photography and create images that are certifiably professional in artistry and skill. Certification must be renewed on a periodic basis, ensuring continuing confidence in the professionalism of Certified Professional Photographers.
The end result is that Vanessa G. Photography is now a studio with distinction. A place you can feel confident in hiring a truly experienced professional. A studio you can be sure to create custom portrait artworks for you and your family that are authentic, modern, and beautiful…and technically correct…and well designed. We take our job very seriously. This is not a part time venture for us. We are full time, dedicated professionals, specializing in newborn portraits and high school senior portraits.
